Privacy policy.

What this site collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.

Effective date:

Who we are

buytahoe.com is operated by Tony Laurian, a licensed Nevada real estate agent (License #13406) with Coldwell Banker Select Real Estate, 188 Highway 50, Zephyr Cove, Nevada 89448. Each Coldwell Banker office is independently owned and operated.

This policy explains what information the site collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to buytahoe.com and to the property-search pages on it. It does not cover other websites we link to, including Coldwell Banker’s own sites, which have their own policies.

Questions or requests about this policy: tony.laurian@cbselectre.com or 775-721-1196.

What we collect

We collect three kinds of information.

Information you give us. When you register for property search, save a search or a listing, ask about a property, request a home valuation, schedule a tour, sign up for listing alerts or market reports, or contact us, we receive what you enter: typically your name, email address, phone number, the property or area you are interested in, and your message. Your saved searches, saved listings and alert preferences are kept with your account so we can send you what you asked for.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request, and the date and time. The analytics and advertising tools described below also collect information about your visit. If you arrive through a link that carries campaign tags (for example utm_source), the site keeps those tags in your browser for the current tab only, so that an enquiry you send later can note where you came from. They are cleared when you close the tab.

Information from our property-search provider. Property search, listing details, alerts and market reports are delivered by iHomefinder, Inc. When you use those features, iHomefinder collects the information you enter and your activity in the search tool (listings viewed, searches saved) on our behalf and stores it in our customer database. Listing data itself comes from the Northern Nevada Regional MLS and is not information about you.

We do not knowingly collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or government ID numbers through this site, and we ask you not to send them through any form on it.

How we use it

We use the information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry, valuation request, or tour request, and work with you on buying or selling a home.
  • Send the listing alerts, saved-search updates and market reports you signed up for.
  • Keep your property-search account working, including your saved searches and listings.
  • Understand how the site is used and which pages, posts and campaigns bring people to it, so we can improve it.
  • Measure and improve our advertising on Facebook and Instagram, including showing ads to people who have visited the site.
  • Keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
  • Meet legal and real estate licensing obligations, including record-keeping required of licensees.

Marketing emails. If you have given us your contact details, either through this site or in the course of working with us, we may email you about listings, market updates and our services. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us directly to stop.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal effects on you.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

The site uses cookies and similar technologies in four ways.

Cookies and tracking tools used on this site
PurposeToolWhat it doesHow to opt out
Property searchiHomefinderKeeps you signed in to property search and remembers your saved searches and listings. Required for those features to work.Clear cookies in your browser; the search features will then ask you to sign in again.
AnalyticsGoogle AnalyticsCounts visits and shows us which pages are used, how visitors arrive, and roughly where they are (city level), so we can improve the site. Google processes this under its privacy policy.Install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on, or block third-party scripts or cookies in your browser.
AdvertisingMeta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram)Tells Meta that your browser visited this site and which pages, so we can measure our Facebook and Instagram posts and ads and show ads to people who have visited. Meta may combine this with your Meta account under its privacy policy.Adjust your Meta ad preferences, opt out through the Digital Advertising Alliance, or block third-party cookies in your browser.
VideoYouTube (Google), privacy-enhanced modePlays the homepage background video and the videos on community guides. The homepage video loads when the page opens, unless your device is set to reduce motion; guide videos load only when you press play. When a video loads, YouTube receives your IP address and browser details and may store information in your browser, under Google’s privacy policy.Turn on “reduce motion” in your device settings to stop the homepage video, do not press play on guide videos, or block third-party cookies in your browser.

These third parties may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites when you use this site. We do not control what they do with it beyond the settings we choose.

Do Not Track. Browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common standard for responding to it, and this site does not change its behavior when it receives one. The opt-out methods above work regardless of that signal.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking all cookies will stop the property-search sign-in from working.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with other businesses for their own marketing.

We share it only with:

  • Our brokerage: Coldwell Banker Select Real Estate, and its franchisor Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC where their systems or compliance obligations require it.
  • Service providers working for us: iHomefinder (property search and customer database), Vercel (website hosting), Google (site analytics and YouTube video playback), and Meta (advertising measurement). Each may process your information only to provide its service to us.
  • The other side of a transaction: if you buy or sell a home with us, the escrow company, lender, inspectors and the other party’s agent receive what the transaction requires, with your knowledge.
  • When the law requires it: to comply with a subpoena, court order, licensing-authority request, or other legal process, or to protect our rights, your safety, or others’ safety.
  • A successor business: if the business is sold or merged, customer records may transfer to the successor under this same policy.

Categories of third parties, for the purposes of Nevada law: our brokerage and its franchisor; website, data, analytics and advertising service providers; parties to a real estate transaction; and government or legal authorities when required.

Your choices and rights

You can, at any time:

  • See or correct what we hold. Email tony.laurian@cbselectre.com with the name and email address you used, and we will tell you what we have about you and correct anything that is wrong. We respond within 30 days; if we need longer, we will say so.
  • Delete it. Ask us to delete your enquiry and property-search records. We will do so unless we are required to keep a record under real estate licensing or other law, in which case we will tell you what we are keeping and why.
  • Stop emails or texts. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, reply STOP to any text, or ask us directly.
  • Limit tracking. Use the opt-out methods in the cookies section above.

Nevada residents. Nevada law (NRS 603A) gives you the right to direct a website operator not to sell your covered information. We do not sell covered information. If you want to submit a verified request anyway, email tony.laurian@cbselectre.com with “Nevada opt-out request” in the subject line. We will verify your identity using the details you provided to us and respond within 60 days, extended by up to 30 days if reasonably necessary.

Residents of other states. If your state’s privacy law gives you additional rights, you may exercise them through the same email address, and we will honor them to the extent that law applies to us.

We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

Retention, security and the rest

How long we keep it. Enquiry and property-search records are kept while you have an account or an open conversation with us, and for as long afterward as real estate licensing and tax rules require us to keep transaction records (in Nevada, generally five years after a transaction closes). You can ask us to delete your records sooner, as described above. Google Analytics data about visits is kept for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically.

Security. The site is served over HTTPS. Customer records are held in iHomefinder’s hosted system, protected by its access controls, and only Tony and the people who manage this site for him can see them. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive financial details through the site.

Children. The site is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites. Listing pages, our social media profiles and some content link to other websites, including Coldwell Banker, Facebook, Instagram and Google. Their privacy practices are their own.

Changes. When we change this policy we will update the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you by email or by a notice on the site.
